Cargo Handler
he primary responsibility of a cargo handler is to supervise the loading and unloading of all consignments. They must also ensure that consignments are properly packed and web addressed, and that they are correctly loaded.

The job carries some responsibility as the cargo controller forms the link between the customer and the safe, quick and efficient delivery of consignments.

- trying to help customers whose consignments have gone missing or items have been broken
- repetitive work can be wearying

A cargo controller should:
- be reliable;
- have good interpersonal skills;
- have the ability to motivate co-workers;
- be able to work calmly under pressure;
- be willing to work shifts and to work indoors and outdoors.

Grade 10 Certificate.

Transnet offers in-service training:

Practical training on-the-job and
Theoretical training at the Esselen Park Training College or one of its branches.
